Yes, you read that headline right, several restaurant owners in China have fired their robotic staff for incompetence.
According to China's Workers' Daily newspaper, not only could robots not carry food with too much soup, they also frequently break down.
It was further revealed that two of the restaurants reliant on the machine servers actually had to close down.
The report didn't stop "Taste and Aroma" restaurant in Guiyang, capital of China's Guizhou province, from rolling out its new robotic wait staff this week.
But
the move has however left many on the fence as robot waiters have been
making blunders in restaurants across China since at least 2014, often
not living up to expectations.
According to CNN, while at first glance the five new robots at "Taste and Aroma" seem super-futuristic, it turns out they can only move along fixed paths and are unable to respond to requests from customers.
