Some years ago, wireless charging technology was just a concept but
the case is a lot different now. Wireless charging has advanced beyond
what we first saw and the market is maturing at a very fast rate.
According to a report of Electronics EETimes,
the wireless charging market grew by over 160% in 2015 compared with
the previous year and this kind of exponential growth is expected again
in 2016.
In the mobile industry, Samsung appears to be the biggest advocate for wireless charging as this has been integrated into its flagship products right from Samsung Galaxy S4. Another widely used mobile gadget that uses wireless charging is the Apple Watch but when we take a critical look at these devices, it is obvious that inductive wireless charging technology will not get the market far enough.
These devices require their “special charging pads” to effectively position the electromagnetive field to transfer energy between charging dock and the device. This is one of the limitations of inductive charging as it can become rather difficult to make this technology work with very small devices like hearing aids.
Humavox’s ETERNA platform is built on this technology and it is not
limited by a device’s size or design. How it works differs from
inductive charging — a wireless charger transmits radio frequencies and
this is picked up by a receiver within the device. This is then
converted to the DC voltage that charges the device.
The ETERNA platform consists of the NESTTM , the physical
charging station that acts as the power transmitter. It sends out the
radio frequency that is picked up by the ThunderlinkTM, the
circuitry embedded within the device that converts the received radio
frequency into DC voltage. ETERNA Charging Optimizer completes the whole
process by delivering wireless high power transfer.
With this technology, charging your device can be as easy as dropping it into a charging dock that looks like a bowl, a drawer, a carrying case or anything. There is absolutely no need to make the surfaces contact as with inductive charging and the ETERNA platform makes it even easier to integrate wireless charging into any device no matter the size.

How is Humavox’s approach different?
One company that is already advancing wireless charging in a unique way is Humavox with its ETERNATM Platform. Inductive charging works best with relatively large devices with flat surfaces and requires direct contact, but radio frequency wireless charging technology is the much better alternative. With this technology, charging your device can be as easy as dropping it into a charging dock that looks like a bowl, a drawer, a carrying case or anything.
