Reactions have continued to trail the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s decision to freeze the personal account of the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, and those of his associates.
According to reports, the governor’s personal account at the Zenith Bank Ekiti branch was frozen on the order of the anti-graft agency. INFORMATION NIGERIA brings you reactions from social media users on the issue.
Opinions were however divided on the legality of the action by the EFCC to freeze the Governor’s account. While some opined that the EFCC could freeze anyone’s account only if it has a court order, others simply stated that the EFCC was just a tool used by the ruling party wich-hunt an enemy.
If the EFCC actually need a court order to freeze Fayose’s account then freezing it without one is a foul.— JJ. Omojuwa (@Omojuwa) June 21, 2016
But Buhari himself received money from ONSA. Why is EFCC not freezing his account?

The way Buhari aggressively uses EFCC to hound opponents should be the same way he should have handled the economy before it collapsed— Omonile Lawyer™ (@MatthewOttah) June 21, 2016
You expect Magu; who PUBLICLY opined that ANYONE invited by EFCC is guilty of the alleged crime, to understand the finer prints of the law?According to the main opposition party, PDP, the EFCC was just an agency in the hands of the ruling party to intimadate and harrass an opponent.

EFCC is not fighting corruption, they are like Adolf Hitler’s Gestapo used to intimidate, threaten/harass perceived opponents of the tyrants— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) June 21, 2016
Summary of the emerging legal fireworks: 1.Fayose has no immunity from investigation 2. EFCC needs a court order to freeze his accounts. This twitter user went to the length of screen grabbing a section of the EFCC Act to buttress his point

The big question on this Fayose thing remains: DID THE EFCC GET A COURT ORDER? All other questions are moot. pic.twitter.com/uinxJl4NhD— Chxta (@Chxta) June 21, 2016
