Three security operatives were injured yesterday when suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked Kanamma, the local government headquarters of Yunusari in Yobe State.
The insurgents reportedly stormed the local government headquarters on four motorcycles, each carrying three armed men.
“They shot sporadically and everyone scampered for safety”, said a resident, who fled to neighbouring Niger Republic.
“They burgled soft drinks’ shops and loaded them onto two vehicles they seized from security operatives and fled”, he added.
Confirming the attack, the Yobe Police Command spokesperson, Toyin Gbadegesin, said three security men were injured during the encounter while two were still missing.
“No human casualty was recorded. But three security men were injured while two others got missing. It’s difficult to ascertain the security personnel involved because there’s no mobile network in the area”, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Gbadegesin said.
