There are sixteen major Odu ('books') in the Odù Ifá literary corpus. When combined there are total of 256 Odu to solve all problems, situations, circumstances, actions and consequences in life based on the uncountable ese (poetic recitations) attached to the 256 Odu coding. These form the basis of Ifa traditional spiritual knowledge and are the foundation of all Yoruba divination systems.

Where I is an odd count or a "heads" result, and II is an even count or a "tails" result, the sixteen basic patterns and their Yoruba names are set forth in the sidebar.

(Please note this is only one way of ordering them, this changes depending on area within Nigeria, or the diaspora. An alternative order used in Ibadan, and Cuba is: Ejiogbe, Oyekun meji, Iwori Meji, Idi Meji, Irosun Meji, Oworin Meji, Obara Meji, Okanran Meji, Ogunda Meji, Osa Meji, Ika Meji, Oturupon Meji, Otura Meji, Irete Meji, Oshe Meji, Ofun Meji. Heepa Odu! This is important to note as it changes the outcomes of certain parts of the reading).

The babalawo recites a series of poems with proverbs and stories from the Ifa poetry that go with that choice. The final interpretation is made by the person seeking guidance, who decides how the verses that the babalawo has recited should be applied to the problem at hand.

(This may be one style, however other schools of thought with Ifa have the Diviner interpreting what Ifa says and not simply chanting and leaving it to the client)

Ifa poetry is not written down but passed down orally from one babalawo to another. Today, there are many texts that are designed to help Babalawos to learn and retain the huge corpus of knowledge.

Initiation into Ifa requires rigorous study. An aspiring Babalawo must learn AT LEAST four verses from each of the 256 chapters (Odu) of Ifa. The minimum of four verses will of necessity include ebos and ooguns (medicine) that are embedded and relevant to each of the verses, plus other issues that complement divination.

An accomplished Babalawo must know about ten verses of each of the 256 chapters of Ifa (256 Odu Ifa). Regardless of gender, whoever aspires to practice Ifa must have this qualification. In essence, Ifa practice does not preclude a woman provided such woman acquires the required qualification.

A special Orisa can only be received by a Babalawo who decides to perform the special initiation that will allow him access to Odu. In essence, initiation into
Ifa is the first step towards initiation into Odu. A woman cannot be initiated into Odu.

Mr Julius Adams was diagnosed with the devastating disease of HIV/AIDS Positive-1 in 1995. He had lived with the terrible disease for the next five years. Not wanting to live the rest of his life in misery and even have a shortened life, he decided to seek a permanent solution from God Almighty.

He discovered The SCOAN and believed that only God could heal him from this incurable disease. The man of God, Prophet T B Joshua prayed for him and declared him free in Jesus’ name. After some time, Mr Adams decided to go for a confirmatory test to check his healing. To his wonderful surprise, the test results came back negative! He had received his complete healing in Jesus’ name! It has now been 16 good years that Mr Julius Adams has been free from the deadly disease of HIV/AIDS Positive-1. With his medical reports sitting side by side, Mr Adams proudly shows the congregation his before and after results. Glory be to God Almighty for this miraculous healing. He tells the crowd that there is no earthly cure available, that one must seek the Almighty hand of God to receive a permanent solution through Jesus Christ'

A woman has reportedly revealed how she wanted to destroy prophet T.B. Joshua, the General Overseer of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) during his last crusade in Peru. According to the lady, a huge force restricted her from attacking the pastor when she got close to him.

Read the press release by the church
Uncontrollably welling within, her anger reached bursting point. Only one devilish thought flashed incessantly through her mind - to destroy TB Joshua at all cost. Rushing towards him in a violent fit of rage, a supernatural force suddenly hit her, crashing her to the ground. Evil was defeated!

The malicious spirit of anger had plagued Cezia Carassa’s life for almost as long as she could remember. “I used to hit my husband and punch him in the face,” she recalled. “I used to get really mad. It was really strange force inside me.”
Cezia didn’t really want to attend the crusade with Prophet TB Joshua but curiosity eventually triumphed and she decided to join 50,000 other attendees at the historic event.

“When the Mass Prayer started, I went down to the pitch because I wanted to destroy Prophet TB Joshua,” she candidly described. “I felt a huge force inside me. I wanted to attack everyone. I wanted to destroy.”

The demonic spirit of anger had been rudely exposed by the Spirit-filled prayer! “When I got near to the prophet, I felt some strength and force pushing me away from him. And then I fell.”

Since that Divine encounter, an incredible sense of peace and tranquility has filled Cezia’s life. “I felt that the opposite force that was pushing me to destroy things were gone. But other force made me new. I felt brand new! When I looked at the mirror, I was not the same. Before I used to look like an angry women, but right now I feel very new. And I look even younger!” Truly, the evidence of Jesus Christ is lives changed!
